Managing Chronic Illness, Anxiety, Depression & Trauma through

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioural therapy helps to support individuals in improving self-management skills, reducing stress, anxiety, depression and healing trauma.

CBT strategies, skill development and emotional inner work can assist an individual in reshaping negative patterns of thought and behaviours with lasting change and personal growth. With CBT individuals can better manage the physical and emotional challenges of a chronic illness, anxiety, depression or trauma while maintaining a healthy sense of self and bring pleasure and meaning back into their life. CBT support of a chronic illness also acknowledges the grief that follows the diagnosis of an illness as recognizing “loss of identity” and the significant life changes that come with it.

  • bipolar disorder
  • eating disorders
  • generalized anxiety disorder
  • obsessive-compulsive disorder
  • panic disorder
  • posttraumatic stress disorder
  • schizophrenia and psychosis
  • specific phobias
  • substance use disorders.
What are CBT sessions like?

We will identify and challenge negative thought patterns, emotions and behaviour in our session.

CBT is usually a treatment plan where we have set several sessions. This may vary depending on why CBT was recommended as a counselling offering.

During a session, we will discuss what is happening in your life or how your present and past experiences affect you.
